2 Worlds

US Consumer Confidence Tumbles on Financial Fears

And Stocks keep marching on towards historical highs! Wall Street in a world of its own, but sooner or later the markets will wake up. I remember years ago when consumer confidence numbers were in the 90's and 100's,I bring up this fact because today they were expecting a number of 64 and if it would have come out at 64.5 we would have had a headline that read CONSUMER CONFIDENCE BETTER THAN EXPECTED and the public buys the SPIN. I hope you see my point today!

I am suspect of this ongoing rally in stocks and I will share with you what makes me feel this way.Gold and Silver are around the same prices they were early this morning and the commodity complex as a whole simply is not going along for the ride with the Dow today. As you follow along with me you will learn that I follow the Canadian and Australian Dollars and enjoy trading them.Yes they both have had a decent day however while the U.S. stock markets have rallied over 10% this month, both of these currencies appear to have rolled over to the downside. For those who do not know, these 2  are commodity currencies and will perform well in times of strong global growth. While the stock markets may give the appearance that all is well in the world, other markets are saying otherwise. I will post some charts tomorrow after the Fed Meeting because things may change after we get the news, whatever it may be.

Another fact I would like to point out is that OIL is now less than $3 from $100. I hope you enjoyed the sale we had the past couple of months on gasoline, if that is what some call it. $100 OIL is a problem for the economy and you really are not hearing them bring up this subject on financial tv just yet.

The past couple of days have been a tad boring for me, I am keeping my fingers crossed that things get eventful tomorrow afternoon.

Good Day

  1. Nice commentary. I like observation on consumer confidence. I've never been much of a follower of financial news. This put in in perspective for me. Thanks. I'm looking forward you future posts.
